Open Alvar Aalto Route Days – Alvar Aalto Route Events as Part of the European Heritage Days 2025

In September, the European Heritage Days will be celebrated along the Alvar Aalto Route, offering the public a wonderful selection of architectural experiences. The programme includes open houses, guided tours, exhibitions, workshops, and family-friendly events.

The European Heritage Days are the largest participatory cultural event in Europe, highlighting the diversity of our shared cultural heritage. The 2025 theme, Architectural Heritage, invites us to reflect on which buildings and environments we wish to preserve for future generations. The sites along the Alvar Aalto Route vividly demonstrate how architecture can be an integral part of the landscape, the community, and everyday life – bringing a human scale and beauty that touches us all.

The Open Alvar Aalto Route Days event series is part of a project coordinated by the Cultural Route on Aalto’s Architecture and Design Heritage Association, with participation from members of the Alvar Aalto Route across Europe. More than 20 European Heritage Days events will be organised at architectural sites along the route in Finland, France, and Italy. The month of events will culminate in the Alvar Aalto Week in Rovaniemi. The project is funded by the joint programme of the Council of Europe and the European Union, European Heritage Days.
