A key event is the seminar “La arquitectura de Alvar Aalto y la puesta en valor de Paimio: obra clave del Modernismo”, which examines the architectural and historical importance of Aalto’s iconic Paimio Sanatorium. The discussion will be led by Mirkku Kullberg, CEO of the Paimio Foundation, Nicola Lindertz, the Finnish Ambassador to Argentina, and Diego Ranea, President of the Argentine-Finnish Chamber of Commerce. This seminar is part of the broader “Aalto Weekend”, organized by Nordicamerica ry in collaboration with the Finnish Embassy in Buenos Aires. The weekend also includes documentary screenings featuring Virpi Suutari’s films Aalto Dialogues and Aalto, which delve into Aalto’s philosophy, vision, and groundbreaking approach to architecture.

In addition, Finnish expertise in wood architecture will be showcased through the Wood Program exhibition from Aalto University, which will open at Centro Cultural Borges. The exhibition will present innovative and environmentally sustainable wood architecture, continuing Aalto’s legacy of designing in harmony with nature. The exhibition will be open for a month, offering visitors a glimpse into the future of Finnish wooden construction.

The Buenos Aires Architecture Biennial and its associated events are a significant part of Finland’s public diplomacy efforts in Argentina. These seminars and exhibitions highlight the timeless nature of Alvar Aalto’s architecture and the role of Finnish architecture as a leader in sustainable, human-centered design.
