SUMMARY:Being There: Arno Rafael Minkkinen and Gaspard Noël
DESCRIPTION:Maison Louis Carré presents Being There\, a photography exhibition featuring works by Finnish American photographer Arno Rafael Minkkinen and French artist Gaspard Noël. Both artists work with their own bodies in nature\, exploring the place of the human being in the world. \nThe exhibition brings together two different approaches to photography\, the body and presence. The works are connected by a commitment to the moment of capture: each image is based on what the camera saw at the moment of exposure\, without AI\, Photoshop or multiple exposure. \nDesigned by Alvar Aalto\, Maison Louis Carré offers a distinctive setting for the exhibition. It is the only building designed by Aalto in France. Completed in 1959\, the house is located in Bazoches-sur-Guyonne\, around 40 kilometres southwest of Paris. \nThe exhibition is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 pm to 6 pm. Online booking is requested. \nPhoto: Gaspard Noël

SUMMARY:Between Soft Borders exhibition at Säynätsalo Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:Between Soft Borders is an exhibition by photographic artist Emmi Minkkinen at Taipuu Gallery in Säynätsalo Town Hall. The exhibition explores growth\, change and transitional states of being. The works move through landscapes of water\, light\, clouds and the body. In them\, the border appears as a soft and shifting space\, where the old is still present and the new is only beginning to take shape. \nWater acts as both a concrete and symbolic element in the works. It carries\, covers\, reflects and transforms. In the exhibition\, childhood\, the body\, memory and landscape become part of the cycles of nature and human life. \nThe exhibition is part of Minkkinen’s long-term photographic project From the Roots\, It Grows\, in which she explores childhood\, growth and the human relationship with nature. The works invite visitors to linger in moments of change\, where one stage of life gradually begins to form into another. \nThe exhibition is located in the free exhibition area of Säynätsalo Town Hall. Open daily from 12:00 to 16:00 in June\, July and August. Closed on Midsummer Day.

SUMMARY:Aino & Alvar Aalto: The Honeymoon Route in Italy
DESCRIPTION:Italy has a privileged space in the lives and careers of Aino\, Alvar and Elissa Aalto. In October 1924\, Aino and Alvar chose Italy for their honeymoon\, largely following an itinerary that Aino had already experienced three years earlier after graduating in architecture. The young couple left Helsinki on their way to Italy on 8th October 1924 via Tallinn\, Vienna and Innsbruck. Their Italian itinerary ended in Venice on 30th October 1924\, the main places visited being Verona\, Padova\, Firenze\, but mostly Venice. \nThis travel has been most influential in their lives and careers and was a solid ground for a successful network with Italian avant garde architects. From this comes the “Aino & Alvar Aalto Honeymoon Route”\, promoted by Polytechnic University of Marche\, Ancona\, with Alvar Aalto Foundation and the Aalto Family and supported by a large partnership. \nThe second edition (9–12 October 2026) opens an exciting new chapter in this “route of memory” designing a slightly different itinerary and adding new focusing on Aino Marsio-Aalto’s travels to Italy from 1921 to 1924. What kind of Italy did Aino and Alvar Aalto encounter during these formative years? \nThrough seminars\, readings and guided tours in historic cities and landscape\, the programme invites participants to rediscover the country as it appeared a century ago. Also\, the 2026 programme takes on a strong symbolic significance\, as it marks ninety years since Aino’s success as head of Artek\, crowned by the Gold Medal at the 1936 Triennale\, and fifty years since Alvar’s death. \nParticipants may either book the complete bus tour from Florence to Venice (25-30 places) or attend selected individual events. Full programme details will be announced soon. \nInformation and booking at: aaltoitalia100@gmail.com \nFriday 9 October 2026\nFiesole\, opening seminar at Fondazione Giovanni Michelucci – Firenze\,\nSacello Rucellai and guided tour in the city centre \nSaturday 10 October 2026\nPadua\, guided tour in the historic town\,\nvisit Palazzo della Ragione\, Cappella Ovetari and Cappella degli Scrovegni \nSunday 11 October 2026\nBus tour from Padua to Monselice\, visit Monselice hilltown\,\nreadings from Aino and Alvar Aalto’s diaries \nMonday 12 October 2026\nVenice\, closing seminar at San Giorgio Island\,\nvisit the former San Giorgio convent and guided tour to Palladio churches on Canal Grand \n \n  \nPhoto: Alvar and Aino Aalto stopped in Vienna on their honeymoon to Italy in 1924.Alvar Aalto Museum.
